Summary

Lesson plan was developed in response to a request to teach literacy at the local World Vision Training Center. Students were young men from many different language groups in Irian Jaya. Their level of education ranged from Grade 6 to the final year of high school. All would return to a village situation to establish various development projects according to local needs. Very few came from language groups with local language literature and for all of them, Indonesian literature was difficult to obtain. Taught them to create their own reading material and how to use it to teach a reading fluency class.
